Kid-Tauqua

Keep kids busy with engaging programs and activities. The Kid-Tauqua Tent has special musical programs, demonstrations, tie-dying, and make ‘n’ take crafts. All programs are free to attend. Visit the Splash Pad for interactive water play, bubble-making, and sidewalk art creations.

Once the kids are worn out, relax on a Trolley Tour of the Mountain Lake Park Historic District. Saturday offers rides in a Model T and horse-drawn carriage rides are on Sunday.

  • Theater Games

    Our Town Theatre Director, Mikey Virts will introduce children to the theatre with interactive games. Dressing the part with help from the Costume Shop will add to the fun.

  • Treasure Hunt

    Join a wild adventurer to find a hidden gold nugget. David Moran will give you tips on how to be a good explorer and, if you’re lucky, find the prize. Head out on your own or in teams to be the lucky hunter.

  • Puppets & Play

    Jo Ann Dadisman will be returning with a program your kids will love. Storytelling, music, and puppets open up a child’s imagination and allow them to be immersed in the moment.

  • Learn The Guitar

    Acclaimed guitarist, Mark Edwards is bring practice guitars to help curious children to learn how to play his favorite instrument. This is a rare opportunity for children to discover musical interests.

  • Crellin Steel Drum Band

    Under the direction of Kevin Martin, Crellin Elementary School built a set of steel pans for a new band they formed in 2018. Ever since, each new grade learns and performs the instrument.

  • Sally Stephenson

    Sally Stephenson brightens up the Kid-Tauqua tent with her interactive songs written specifically with children in mind. Her warm demeanor nature draws encourages the little ones to join in.

  • GaCo Robotics Demonstration

    Chuck Trautwein heads up Garrett County’s Robotics team, GaCo, and has mentored students who have won multiple international awards of excellence in robotic engineering. See his amazing demonstration of technology on the Kid-Tauqua stage.
