Hat Making Workshop

New for the 2023 Victorian Chautauqua is the Victorian Hat Competition. If you need some inspiration, a special workshop will be held at the Garrett County Arts Council $MART ART Shared Workspace. Fashion Historian, Courtney Cauthon will lead participants in the history of Victorian fashion and how hats were decorated at the turn of the last century. Bring your own hat as a base design to decorate. Space is limited so sign up early!

Model your creation at the Victorian Chautauqua on Saturday, July 8th to win a trophy and prizes. A judge's panel will determine the winners with audience participation. It’s guaranteed a playful competition you won’t want to miss.

Courtney will also be at the Victorian Chautauqua on July 8th & 9th to assist Chris Jones with period costuming for traditional wet plate photography. Commission a unique portrait in a timeless photographic technique. They make wonderful and personal gifts or treasured keepsakes.
